Sunderland's Gordon to miss start of new season

07/16/2010 - Sunderland, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon will miss the start of the upcoming Premiership season after he fractured a bone in his arm.

Gordon sustained the injury in training on Thursday after he fell awkwardly, and while no timetable has been set for his return, it took nearly three months for Gordon to return to action last season after suffering a similar injury.

In 31 games for the Black Cats last season Gordon kept seven clean sheets, while he has appeared in 72 matches for the club since joining in August 2007.

The injury could also keep Gordon from playing in Scotland's first four Euro 2012 qualifiers, with two matches scheduled for September and two more in October.
