07/26/2010 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Baltimore Orioles outfielder Luke Scott has been named the American League Player of the Week for the period ending July 25.
Scott hit an AL-leading four home runs and added three doubles and eight runs batted in while scoring six times over seven games. He hit safely in all seven games, with five multi-hit games, and finished the week going 13-for-27 for a .481 average.
He went 3-for-4 with two home runs, his ninth career multi-homer game, and three RBI in a wild 11-10 victory over Tampa Bay on Tuesday and followed that with a go-ahead two-run long ball in Friday's 3-2 win over Minnesota. Scott hit another home run in Saturday's game, marking the second time this season he had gone deep in back-to-back games.
For the season, Scott his batting .296 with 16 homers and 38 RBI and is currently working on a 10-game hitting streak.
Others considered for the weekly honor were Miguel Cabrera of Detroit, Oakland's Jack Cust, Delmon Young of the Twins, as well as pitchers Wade Davis of the Rays, Tommy Hunter of Texas and the Twins' Carl Pavano.
